5 Steps to Repurposing Your Content
We all know it is better to work smarter not harder. That is the beauty of content repurposing. You take one idea and spread it out through different platforms and in various methods, and you automatically have days of content to share with your clientele. In this post, I’m going to show you how to repurpose your content with ease.
Step One: Have an idea!
Just one idea will do. It doesn’t have to be the best idea the internet has ever seen or even an entirely original idea. Have one idea, or tip, or piece of information that you know your people need and just go from there.
Step Two: Choose your method.
Begin with your strengths. If writing is easiest for you, then start with a blog post. If you prefer speaking, create a video or podcast episode. Beginning in a way that comes easiest to you allows you to create rich content without feeling burdened.
Step Three: Divide it up.
Once you have a good idea and have created the first piece of content dividing up the rest is easy. If you began with a long piece of writing or a video, take a quote from the piece and add it to a graphic for an easily shareable piece for Facebook and Instagram. Turn old blog posts into a video for Facebook or Youtube. Facebook loves video! How-tos can become Instagram Stories, podcasts can be quickly converted into blog posts, and you can easily change a webinar into a video tutorial. The options to repurpose your content are endless!
Step Four: Create your schedule
Scheduling your content is one of the best things you can do for your business. Take some time one day a week to make a plan for your content. This will save you the headache of always feeling tethered to your computer or device. After all, the whole point of this venture is to create freedom in your life! You could choose to repurpose the same content in one week or create a longer cycle for your work. There is no right or wrong method for scheduling; it’s just a matter of what works best for you and your clientele.
Step Five: Promote, Share, Tweet, and Pin
Promote your content after it’s published. Using the links on your site, share to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Snapchat. Know where your audience is, and concentrate your time and efforts there. Always share to as many platforms as you can; you never know where you might find someone new who becomes a client.
